Orphanage Care
Ways we help children grow.
More than forty children who have lost parents are cared for through our orphanage support: school fees and books, clothes and festivals, and volunteers who keep showing up long after the first visit.
Alongside everyday support, the celebrations matter just as much: birthdays, festivals and outings that remind every child they belong to a family that is looking out for them.
Every child deserves someone who keeps showing up. For the children in our care, that promise is kept by volunteers who stay long after the first visit.
Seniors & Patients
Hot meals for the elders of a senior centre in Coimbatore, cooked and served by our volunteers and their families every other month, help for people facing surgery when the bills come due, and wheelchair wheel replacement for people with limited mobility.
No committee, no campaign: steady, dependable care for people who might otherwise have to go without.
The kindest thing a community can do for its elders is to keep showing up, not once, but every other month, for years.
Food donation at a senior center — Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
Every other month, Bakia Raj and his family provide a food donation to a senior center in Coimbatore. One family who decided that the elders in their community should be able to count on a good meal, and who keep coming back. That steadiness is what turns a kind gesture into something people can rely on.
Pragathi Vidyalaya
Carnatic violin, Hindustani vocal and keyboard and chess, taught by experienced faculty through the school year, and performed on stage at our annual Pragathi Utsav.
Every class also gives back: the program supports Pragathi USA's charitable work in education, care and food support.
Culture is inherited only when it is practised. Every raga learned passes a heritage on, and every class helps a child somewhere else go to school.
Food Drives
Volunteers and families collect, sort and stock donations with the Dulles South Food Pantry and in our own neighbourhoods, year after year, including our food donation to the Dulles Pantry in November 2024.
Small, steady acts of service that add up to meaningful change for neighbours who need it.
You do not need a large budget or a committee to begin. A family, a shelf of donations, a warm meal, repeated faithfully, is what turns kindness into something people can rely on.
Technology & Learning
A computer hall, a library and a career guidance centre give students who had no access a place to learn, read and plan a future.
The goal is simple: no young person should be held back because they never had a computer to learn on, a book to borrow or someone to point the way.
Access is where opportunity begins. A computer, a book and someone to guide you can change what a young person believes is possible.
Pragathi Utsav
A vibrant cultural celebration that brings the community together — music, art, and togetherness — while raising support for the people and programs we serve.
It's where joy meets purpose: an evening that turns shared culture into real-world impact.
Students of Pragathi Vidyalaya take the stage to perform classical music and dance, and families and friends come together to celebrate.
Joy shared is joy multiplied. One evening of song and dance can also carry the work of the whole year.
Workshops
Hands-on sessions focused on personal, social, and economic growth — practical learning that participants can carry into everyday life.
